The construction principle of the American timber frame construction is based on the old and proven truss construction. You start by building the wall core – in the form of a framework made of wood. This framework is planked with boards, so that the construction gets stability.
On the foundation (floor slab or basement) the outer walls are doweled as calculated by the structural engineer according to the local wind loads. The walls on the first floor are already standing after one day.”
The floor slab is built on top of the walls on the first floor. It consists of double T-beams made of wood, which can bridge large spans and have a sound-insulating effect.
Ceilings can extend to the ridge. Like the walls and ceilings, the roof is also fully planked with wooden panels. After about 14 days of construction, the house is rainproof. Now the shell is ready, the roof is covered, windows and exterior doors are installed, as well as the interior walls, the raw staircase, the facade and the verandas.
