Snook Haven

5.0/51 Reviews

Established in 1948 as a fishing camp, Snook Haven’s restaurant, cabins, boat launch and tours reveal a rare opportunity to the experience the Myakka River and Charlotte Harbor beyond. Its uncommon confluence of fresh water from Florida’s interior and waters from the Gulf of Mexico combine to produce a unique ecosystem that supports a undisturbed habitat that earned it the distinction in 1985 as Florida’s only wild and scenic river. In 2006, Sarasota County purchased the Snook Haven property and integrated it into the County park system, ensuring this priceless natural setting for future generations. Snook Haven visitors can explore the Myakka River and its diverse environment on a 30-passenger tour boat that departs from Snook Haven three times a day, rent a canoe or kayak and experience the river on a more personal level or dine in our shoreline dining room overlooking the unspoiled Myakka. Snook Haven is now a retreat for anglers, naturalists and explorers discovering Florida’s most natural, untouched river.

… with “beer garden” and fishing camp on the beautiful Myakka River. You can eat here, have a drink and enjoy the nature, maybe watch an alligator. Very often live music, on weekends also during the day. On Sunday afternoons, live music and bbq bring together the local population, including many motorcycle rider. To experience the great nature up close, simply rent a canoe or a small motorboat.
